EU Disappointed with WTO Outcome for Bingo Compensation

EU gaming and online bingo operators are very disappointed with the outcome of the compensation deal that was not enforced by the World Trade Organisation last week.

Online bingo operators have been holding their breath for compensation after UIGEA came into effect, virtually knocking UK online bingo and EU bingo operators to their knees in one day.

The claim is that the US Department of Justice has violated International Trade Laws, governed by the WTO that protects member countries rights to free trade amongst each other. The US has maintained its stance for the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act and withdrawn from its WTO treaty obligations. This legislation restricts all financial transactions between US customers and all other internet gaming operators, affecting the rights of non – US bingo and gaming operators.

CEO of the Remote Gaming Association has stated that they are now left with no choice and they will pursue all legal avenues to challenge the Department of Justice for the discriminatory way they have treated EU and UK online gaming and online bingo operators. They believe that the unfairness of it all deserves to be pursued. US business men would not like it very much if the UK and EU were to pass laws regarding their financial transactions into UK and EU businesses.
