WhichBingo.co.uk has launched its annual ‘Online Bingo Oscars’, which reward excellence among online bingo sites.

The awards were begun in 2003 and are open to all of the more than 250 ‘pay-to-play’ online bingo sites currently operating in the UK. Players can vote for their favorite site through December 31, 2008, with winners being announced in January 2009.

The categories include The Newest Bingo Site of the Year Online, which is open to all sites, as well as the New UK Online Bingo Site of the Year, which is open to sites that launched in 2008. Last year Think Bingo and Gone Bingo UK won the awards.

Phil Fraser is the owner of WhichBingo.co.uk and one of online bingo’s leading experts, said, he is constantly looking for ways to encourage bingo players. He stated that they are always surprised by the increase in demand with the way things are changing. These awards provide a forum for the players to come together and voice their approval and enjoy all the fun that is included on his site.

Online bingo has experienced huge growth over the past five years and WhichBingo’s awards reflect that growth. There are more contestants than ever for this year’s awards, and many sites have already begun campaigning in earnest.

Bingo Magix realise that attracting new customers and keeping your existing ones are both vitally important to running a successful business, and so they’re making sure that they do both by offering dazzling sign-up bonuses and extremely satisfactory loyalty bonuses. Once you sign up they’ll give you £15 worth of free play, which compares very healthily with many of the sign-up bonuses on the net. If after you’ve used up your £15 you’re keen to play on they will meet your first deposit with a crunching 300% First Deposit Bonus - topping anything I’ve seen up until now.

So if that’s how they pull the punters in, how do they stop them going elsewhere? Well, the bonuses just get better the more you deposit and the more you play. The first time you play, you earn one “Comp Point”. This makes you a “Silver Member” and entitles you to a 50% Loyalty Bonus on each new deposit . This is on top of existing deposit bonus offers which start at 50% if you deposit a tenner, but climb the more you deposit, up to 125% if you deposit £100 or more. Meanwhile, the more you play the more Comp Points you earn, until you get to 5001 points whereupon you become a VIP member.

What do VIP members get? Well, they get a 150% loyalty bonus on EVERY reload. So if a VIP member tops up their account with £100, they get £125 in deposit bonus money and £150 in Loyalty Bonus. Oh, and if you use Switch or Ukash, they’ll slip another 25% your way. So the VIP member who uses their Switch card to top up with £100 will get £400 worth of play EVERY TIME THEY DO IT. And with a slew of side games and oodles of variety in their bingo games, there’s a lot to spend that money on. Like getting it to make more money for you.

Bingo, other than entertaining hundreds of thousands of people across the globe also found to be very helpful to help children. Online Bingo operator Foxy Bingo could amazingly rose £12,951 this year for Children in Need campaign. The TV show was telecasted on last Friday, 14th November and about 11 million people across the United Kingdom enjoyed it.

The show as enhanced by BBC presenters who performed some of the classic Abba hits. Other highlights were McFly and Take That.

Children in Need is a campaign to help deprived youngsters in the United Kingdom by raising the funds and it takes place every year across the nation. There were many business firms, companies and even individuals that donated their money to the Foxy Bingo, a renowned online Bingo operator.

The website held a Jackpot game assuring £20,000 on Friday night. It declared to donate one pound for each pound that was spent on purchasing the tickets for Bingo on the show. The game showed a hugely popularity and witnessed thousands of players enjoying the game with all their wishes to hit the Jackpot.

Foxy Bingo found it beguiled to announce the collection of few thousand pounds very quickly. A massive £12,951 for the charity was initially donated but later on, overall funds spectacularly rose at approximately £20 million. The organizers thanked all the people who participate wholeheartedly in their £20,000 Bingo game for the charity which was held in financial help of innocuous campaign Children in Need.

Out of thousands of Bingo players, the Jackpot worth £20,000 was shared between two lucky winners with User id Mikeyb73 and Bonkaru2 each of whom carried home a great prize of £10,000. Foxy Bingo congratulated them and counterparts also appreciated a great job done by every member in Foxy Bingo!

Foxy Bingo, like as for Children in Need campaign, also holds many attractive guaranteed jackpots and many other prizes.

With online poker having reached critical mass and appearing to be maxed out, the next phenomenon seems as though it will be online bingo. Competition for online bingo developers and operators is toughening up and we are seeing huge amounts of cash prizes, promotion prizes and free money being given away in the attempt to draw new members to sites.

Many online bingo sites are keeping their developers very busy in the attempt to keep their websites as fresh as possible with use of all the latest technology. In the UK alone we have seen a rash of revamps and upgrades in the past recent months. New gambling laws in the UK have also been largely responsible for the growth in this industry and it appears that although these laws have had an adverse affect on the land based operations of bingo, they have had the completely opposite effect for online bingo.

Online bingo offers a distinctly different experience for bingo lovers used to playing in church halls and bingo clubs, although the game intrinsically is still the same. The UK already has more than 300 online bingo sites in operation, and with more coming onboard virtually weekly, we are becoming spoiled for choice.

Online casinos are not ignoring this phenomenon and they too are adding online bingo into their portfolio of games. There is not an online casino worth its salt that doesn’t offer online bingo to its members today.

Google seems to have had a turnaround regarding their policy of not allowing online bingo and gaming advertising. This rather dramatic situation appears to be as a result of the present economic climate in UK, in fact the same situation applies to the rest of the world too. Large advertisers have had to tighten their belts and some have cut their advertising budgets by as much as half.

Online bingo and other gaming activities are on the other hand advertising more as they become more prolific. Google is now going to allow sites that are licensed and registered with the Gambling Commission to advertise. But anyone who does not meet these criteria will have their Google account terminated.

The new Google Adsense software will mean that more online bingo players will have access to site found from other sources. This will ultimately strengthen member bases at these sites and allow for bigger and better prizes and promotions.

Not everyone is delighted with the new Google move in this direction, but we believe it will be positive. If the ASA can allow white listed sites to advertise on TV, then why not on Google? As long as the advertising is carefully regulated there should be no problem with it. All of this has happened despite the fact that last year Google said they would never allow online bingo and gaming advertising last year. It is funny what money can do!

I picked up on a news article regarding bingo in the local press; this news item tickled my fancy because the young man who wrote it, quite simple does not know what he is talking about. He calls the game of bingo “simply faceless gambling”. Drawn to playing a game of bingo at his local club by one of the many TV adverts we see so many of today. The young reporter went to a local bingo club and instead of the bright and air fun experience he expected, he says that he found a half empty bingo hall, frequented by people who in the most sat alone, and spent the evening watching people spend too much money, while being tutted and shushed for talking, laughing and even dabbing too loudly.

Essentially he says that he found the game was not fun, and found it easy to understand why bingo clubs in the UK were closing down, and he called it an “every man for himself betting frenzy.” I find it hard to believe that this young man had such a bad experience at a bingo club. He does not mention which bingo club it was so they are not even able to make a rebuttal. He obviously doesn’t understand the dynamics of bingo and the socially interactive outlet the game allows many people.

I would like to state categorically that in the UK bingo is not “simply faceless gambling” and I hope that this young man reads this, perhaps he should give online bingo a try and see how he likes that!

Interactive gaming operator NetPlay has two launches happening this week. The launch of an TV show called “Supercasino” and a daytime show called “Live TV Bingo”. NetPlay have extended an airtime deal with Turner Media on the “Nuts” TV channel. This new airtime deal will see “Supercasino” playing from 11pm on a Friday and Saturday on both Sky and Freeview.

Live TV Bingo will commence operations from the 1st November on the dedicated Sky channel 867 and on Nuts TV in the time slot 2 – 5pm daily. This programme will interact through the online bingo site Bingos.com which was taken over by NetPlay earlier this year. Nuts TV reaches an audience of more than 23 million in the UK at present, and is felt to be the perfect audience for these interactive gaming shows. Airing on Freeview will definitely broaden their customer base, and during the peak weekend periods will give a huge boost to their business.

Netplay already has a Live roulette show airing week nights and weekends and this will continue. Marrying an online bingo site to a television show is definitely the way forward for online bingo sites. It is running very successfully for ITV online bingo, with their Bingo Night Live show, aired from midnight on most nights of the week. They have been so successful that they even attempted an online bingo Guinness World Record last week. I haven’t found out what the outcome of that was yet, but I am sure it will be all over the press very soon.

The Lancashire company that operates Kelly’s Eye Bingo, Lottery King and Sceptre is the latest addition to the UK Stock Market. They operate “bespoke charity draws and games” in pubs and working men’s clubs throughout the entire UK. Although there was turmoil in financial markets on Tuesday, this company managed to float successfully on the AIM (Alternative Investment Market), and now they are ready to meet any financial challenges. They opened with 77p per share which gave the company an overall value of ₤2.253 million.

The new Manager of Kelly’s Eye bingo will be Tony Yates, this game was inherited from Gamingking. Playing bingo in working men’s clubs and pubs has been popular in the UK for many years. In fact my Nana used to go to the local working men’s club for a game of what she called “housie” on a regular basis.

To think that a company offering charity bingo games and draws has floated on the stock exchange, just goes to show that perhaps the credit crunch is not as bad as we think. They have to be doing well in order to have a strong share value. Mr. Ken Turner will be the man behind overall operations; he is delighted by the results of the reverse takeover of Gamingking, by Sceptre Leisure. They employ 350 people at their head office near Bamber Bridge, and although it was a strange day to float their shares, they are moving forward nicely.

Top Ten Bingo is a UK land based bingo operator, and unfortunately they are in an ongoing struggle to keep their clubs open. They employ 820 people and have fortunately managed to stay open without having to get rid of staff, but they are having a hard time in the bingo industry at present.
Sir Aubrey Brocklebank, the Chairman of the Top Ten Bingo group said of the factors leading to the rough time land based bingo is having in the UK; Historically the game of bingo has been robust during times of economic hardship, and the only time it was seriously affected was when the National Lottery was introduced. But now, not only does the industry have to contend with rising fuel and food prices, they also have additional VAT to pay, and the smoking ban to deal with.

The smoking ban affected the bingo industry in England and Wales far more than was expected and coupled with all these other outside factors, it has really led to a struggling industry. Bingo operators as are all other industry sectors are in the business to make a profit; one cannot be sentimental about this. Top Ten bingo seem however to be committed to the struggle and are focusing on building their profitability. They do envisage that this hardship is going to be experienced for a few years though, based on the current economic climate. So far Top Ten bingo have had to close the Morely, Wigston and Heckmondwike bingo clubs.
