Police in county Armagh in Northern Ireland are on the trail of three armed robbers who stole an undisclosed, but large sum of money from a bingo club. Three men wearing balaclavas, entered the bingo club in Dobbin Street, at about eleven thirty at night and threatened staff members who were about to close shop, with a handgun or hammer. I am not sure what this means but regardless, they threatened staff members with violence. No customers were in the bingo gall at the time of the attack and no staff members were injured.
One can’t help thinking that there has bee a spate of these robberies in the recent past and I wonder if criminals have cottoned onto the knowledge that bingo clubs are soft targets. Everyone is aware that in the normal course of the bingo business, large sums of cash are taken and the bingo club needs a reasonable float for the paying out of winnings, so to do these criminals with nefarious ideas. Perhaps bingo clubs should think about beefing up their security a little in the light of these circumstances, it would prevent a lot of trouble in the long run.
